Customize Quick Access Toolbar in MS Excel

The Customize Quick Access Toolbar is a small icon present on the title bar of the Excel sheet that provides the user with an easy way to personalize the Quick Access Toolbar.

Customization Quick Access Toolbar 2This list provides the user with various icons that maybe included in the title bar for easy access. The ‘save’, ‘undo’ and ‘redo’ buttons are selected by default.


Options in the Customize Quick Access Toolbar List

New: The user can create a new workbook using this icon.

Open: This icon will enable the user to open other Excel sheets in the computer for viewing and editing.

Save: The user can save the file by simply clicking on this icon.

E-mail: For this icon to function, an mail ID must be linked with the sheet. The user can then use this icon to embed an email message onto the sheet.

Quick Print: This icon will directly print the sheet with the default printer and other print settings.

Print Preview and Print: This icon will allow the user to look at the print preview and then choose to print or not.

Spelling: This icon will review the data present in the sheet for spelling errors.

Sort Ascending: The user can select a cell from a range that has a series of data and then click on this icon to arrange this data in the ascending order.

Sort Descending: The user can select a cell in a range that has a series of data and then click on this icon to arrange this data in the descending order.

Touch/Mouse mode: The user can select this icon to decide if the icons should be in the Touch or Mouse mode. The Touch mode gives more spacing between the icons. This is, thus, optimized for navigating through touch, in touch-screen computers. The Mouse mode has lesser space. It has been optimized for the traditional navigation with the mouse.

By clicking on the ‘More Commands’ option the following dialogue box will appear. The user can choose to add any of these to the Quick Access Toolbar from here.

By using the ‘Show below ribbon’ option, you can shift the Quick Access Toolbar to a position below the ribbon.
