In this post i will share the technique to solve this puzzle which is the mostly asked puzzle among many interviews at the fresher level and experienced too. During the fresher interview most companies asked this puzzle during face to face interview round so this the fresher level interview puzzle for all domains whether for engineering students or some other subject student. This is just to check the general ability of the person and one of the favorite interview puzzle.
I will solve this problem step by step .
Question : Measure 4 liters of water with the help of 5 liter Jar and 3 liter jar and you have plenty of water.
Solution :
Step 1 ) Fill the 5 liter jar full with water.
Result : 5 liter Jar is full , 3 liter Jar is empty.
Step 2 ) Fill the 3 liter Jar with 5 liter jar water
Result : 5 liter jar left with 2 liter of water ( 5 liter – 3 liter ( which is poured into 3 liter jar ) , 3 liter jar is full .
Step 3 ) Now empty the 3 liter Jar.
Result : 5 liter jar has 2 liter of water , 3 liter is empty
Step 4 ) Now fill the 3 liter Jar again from 5 liter jar ( which is having 2 liters of water now )
Result : 3 liter Jar has 2 liter of water ( remaining is 1 liter in 3 liter Jar ) , 5 liter is jar is empty.
Step 5 ) Now fill the 5 liter jar again with water .
Result : 3 liter has left with 1 liter ( same previous result) and 5 liter is full.
Step 6 ) Now fill the 3 liter jar ( which is left with only 1 liter now ) from 5 liter jar .
Result : 3 liter jar is full , 4 liter is left in 5 liter jar as 1 liter is poured into the 3 liter
Now you can measure the 4 liter of water .
To remember this logic remember we have to pour 5 liter jar 3 times into 3 liter jar. This puzzle question asked mostly in interviews round at experienced level also. It is the most asked puzzled so far from the interview perspective.
